BREXIT: Constitutional, political, economic and social causes. The referendum and prospects for a “People’s Vote”

Our Chairman Colin Munro was kindly invited to give a speech to British in Bavaria (a partner of British in Germany and British in Europe) on 8 October 2018.

He began with a quotation from Churchill:

“the trouble with political suicide is that you live to regret it.”

His speech then goes on to explain the five major policy miscalculations by the governments of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) since the end of the Second World War, and to show their relevance for the Brexit referendum result. He draws on his experience as head of the OSCE’s election observation mission in Bulgaria in 2009 and discusses the implications of Brexit for all the United Kingdom – not just England.

You can read Colin’s speech in full here. The slides that go with his presentation can be found here.
